Oculus Quest 2 vs PC
We’re back with another graph comparison. This time it’s for Blade And Sorcery on Oculus Quest 2 and PC.
Warp Frog’s sophisticated melee kicks off today on Oculus Quest 2 as Blade And Sorcery: Nomad (our full review is here). It’s very similar to the PC-VR version, which is still in Early Access, with most of the same game modes and levels, but with a few key differences. How is the Quest version performing? Find out in our video comparison below!
Graphic comparison of Blade and Sorcery
Blade And Sorcery has always been a challenging game, and even the best PCs can struggle with its physics-driven action. Bringing all of that to Quest 2 was a huge challenge and it definitely shows. While Nomad is by no means an ugly game, it’s definitely one of the bigger visual differences we’ve seen between PC and Quest lately. Additional effects such as blood splatter have been removed, as has a lot of vegetation in certain environments. The game is also much more blurry, and Warp Frog took heavy use of Fixed Foveated Rendering (FFR) to get the game up and running.
But the Blade And Sorcery experience was never really about graphical fidelity, and the core gameplay stays pretty much intact. You can still chop off limbs and leave swords stuck in some very unwelcome places, and the use of gravity magic results in a very challenging physics-guided action.
However, there are a few omissions to add support to the game on Quest. You won’t see that many enemies on the screen (a maximum of three) and the Citadel environment has been removed for the time being, as has some of the areas in Dungeons Mode. Even then, this is the first time I’ve noticed a stutter in an Oculus Quest store game, although it’s not fatal.
Ultimately, however, Warp Frog did what many here thought was impossible. And yes, there is some significant sacrifice to make all of this possible, but there is still a working and incredibly fun version of Blade And Sorcery under the hood.
