Oculus Quest 2 may very well be getting an improve to 120Hz refresh charge – KitGuru

It looks like Oculus Quest 2 has another update rate pending upgrade. At the start, the new stand-alone VR headset was suitable for 72 Hz gameplay, which was later updated to 90 Hz via an update. Now it looks like 120 Hz could soon be on the cards.

Andrew Bosworth, VP of Facebook Reality Labs, recently opened up during a question and answer session, giving a literal thumbs up to a question about a 120Hz update.

As explained by Road to VR, the Oculus Quest 2’s display can already reach a refresh rate of 120Hz but is inaccessible to users due to concerns about performance and battery life. According to Bosworth’s comment, the Facebook Reality Labs team has been experimenting and working to get full 120Hz support while keeping performance and battery life within acceptable parameters.

If the Oculus Quest 2 is ramped up to 120 Hz, it will likely be an “experimental” feature that users will have to opt for, much like the 90 Hz introduction when we introduced it. This would also bring the Quest 2 with the Valve Index, which was among the first VR headsets to support a refresh rate of 120 Hz, on a more even playing field.

KitGuru says: Do any of you own an Oculus Quest 2? Would you like to see an upgrade to 120 Hz or would you prefer to stick to 90 Hz and a slightly longer battery life?
