Oculus Quest 2 Is Getting New Mannequin With Double the Storage
Following rumors last week that the Oculus Quest 2 would receive a new memory model configuration, Facebook announced today that the base model of its flagship VR headset will receive a memory surge.
As mentioned in the blog post, starting August 24th, all Quest 2 VR headsets will ship with a minimum memory configuration of 128GB, replacing the previous model which included 64GB of memory in the head-mounted display. Facebook also confirmed that the base Quest 2 will remain priced at $ 299, while the 256GB model will continue to retail for $ 399.

Facebook also confirmed that starting August 24th, all newly created Quest 2 headsets will also include a new silicone face mask. The company decided to replace the VR headset’s face masks after a recall announcement after some Quest 2 owners reported skin irritation from their headsets.
“As more and more people got into VR with Quest 2, we received reports that a very small percentage of Quest 2 customers experienced skin irritation after using the detachable foam facial interface that comes with Quest 2 and is also sold separately of the Fit Pack, ”said Andrew Bosworth, director of Facebook Reality Labs, in the recent blog post. “While the reporting rate is low and the majority of reported cases are low, we want to make sure that our products are safe and comfortable for everyone who uses them.”
