Oculus Quest 2 has outsold all earlier Oculus headsets mixed

Ahead of the launch of Oculus Quest 2, Facebook made it clear that Quest would be the main focus to cut out the Rift and Go headsets. That headset focus already seems to be paying off, as the Quest 2 oversold all other versions of the Oculus headset combined.

In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Facebook’s head of mixed reality stated that the Quest 2 “oversold not just its predecessor, but all of its predecessors combined,” confirming that the Quest 2 was more successful than the Oculus Rift, Rift S, Walk You and the original Oculus Quest.

Here is the full quote: “Well, if you look a little closely, I think it’s just starting to happen. The fact that in just a few months on the market, Oculus Quest 2 oversold not just its predecessor but all of its predecessors combined is a tremendous indicator that we are now at the point where we stand out from the crowd early adopters have prevailed an increasingly mainstream crowd. “

The Oculus Quest 2 has gotten more impressive since launch. Platform updates bring higher update rates, hand tracking, and other improvements. The headset’s launch was not without controversy, however, as many early Oculus supporters were unhappy with the new Facebook account requirement for Oculus devices. Nevertheless, the Quest 2 has become one of the best-selling VR headsets.
