Our high advisable VR headset, the Oculus Quest 2, is all the way down to $250

For most people, and especially anyone who has never owned VR hardware before, the Oculus Quest 2 is the best VR headset in terms of value. It’s one of the more affordable headsets and offers features and specifications that are above its price range. That’s even more true now, as you can get the 64GB model from Target for $ 249.99.

That’s a $ 50 price reduction from the regular retail price of $ 299.99. Already a relatively affordable VR headset, there are few price cuts – in fact, I can’t remember it ever costing $ 249.99 as it is currently on sale. Simply add the item to your cart to see the discount.

Oculus Quest 2 64GB Virtual Reality Headset | $ 299.99 $ 249.99 at Target (save $ 50)
The Oculus Quest 2 is tremendous value in the land of VR headsets, all the more so since it is available for $ 50 below list price on the 64GB model. It got better over time, too, with updates that include wireless support for PC VR games and a faster refresh rate of 120Hz.

There are a few caveats. The biggest one is that you need to link Quest 2 to a Facebook account, which is a big buzzkill for some people. That’s the big trade-off for the comparatively attractive price point, as are the in-game ads that Facebook has experimented with, using data from users’ Facebook profiles.

The other caveat is that this is the 64GB model, rather than the more spacious 256GB version that sells for $ 399.99. There is no way to update the memory of these headsets (no microSD card slot or similar). So once you’ve replenished the allotted storage, you’ll want to delete content to make room for new games and apps.

You can still cram quite a bit of content onto the 64GB model, however. There are many games that take up 2 GB or less of space, such as In Death: Unchained (1.1 GB) and Beat Saber (455 MB).

Otherwise the specifications are the same. The Quest 2 offers a resolution of 3664 x 1920 (1832 x 1920 per eyeball) and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz (with the latest update) as well as a 100-degree field of view. It’s also an all-in-one wireless headset, which means all of the hardware required is baked inside (it’s mainly powered by a Snapdragon XR2 chip). There are also no base stations to mess with.

It’s also more than just a standalone headset. You can plug the Quest 2 into your PC and play SteamVR and Rift games like Half Life: Alyx that give you the best of both worlds. This can be done using an Oculus Link cable or, with the latest update, wirelessly over Air Link. Not too shabby at $ 249.99.
