Oculus Quest Can Now Forged To PC, App Getting ‘Spectator Mode’ Subsequent 12 months
Oculus Quests can now be transferred to your PC using Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
Previously, users could already cast the view of Quest on their phone or television with the feature enabled. This allows others in the room to see what you are seeing in VR.
When Quest started the casting it was rough – it often didn’t work and the delay could be up to 5 seconds. Facebook improved it in late 2019 to increase reliability and reduce latency.
With this new feature, available immediately, you can cast it to a web browser at www.oculus.com/casting. You must be logged into your Facebook account in this browser. This can be Edge or Chrome.
Next year, the mobile app will get “Spectator Mode,” which will give you a third-person view where you can control the camera angle. This requires a developer implementation and is therefore only supported by some apps.
