Facebook recently introduced Oculus Quest 2 keyboard and mouse support for its most popular VR device, but hooking up your favorite pair may not be as obvious as you would have thought. This is because Oculus Quest 2’s keyboard and mouse support is still technically an experimental feature, although you shouldn’t expect any significant issues or errors when using it. Whether you want to improve your work from home with apps like Spatial or just want to surf the web more easily, the best keyboards and mice do your job with amazing efficiency.

What to do with the mouse and keyboard in Oculus Quest?

Since mouse and keyboard support is still an experimental feature, there are not necessarily a large number of applications or games that support this type of input. Arguably the best way to use a mouse and keyboard on your Quest 2 is through your web browser. While the virtual keyboard does the job, finding and pecking for keys is not exactly the best way to enter messages in Facebook Messenger for Quest or long URLs in the Oculus browser.

The April v28 Oculus Quest update added more support for keyboards and mice, including full VR tracking of supported keyboards like the Logitech K830. After installing this update, Quest and Quest 2 will be able to track the Logitech K830 (and other keyboards in the future) in your physical area, allowing for better hand presence when entering VR. The features of Oculus Infinite Office are already built into Quest and Quest 2 (see video above) and can make it easy to create multiple virtual monitors and work in a huge room that could otherwise cost a lot of money to physically rebuild.

If you want to try a virtual workspace that feels more like a traditional office, apps like Spatial can create a stunning virtual office that allows you to work “alongside” your employees while everyone is hanging out from their own home.

Plus, apps like Virtual Desktop let you stream your PC’s desktop entirely to Oculus Quest, harnessing the power of your PC with the flexibility of an absolutely massive monitor to work from. Virtual Desktop is designed to run completely wirelessly over your home’s Wi-Fi network so you don’t even have to plug in cables to get the job done. Just make sure you have one of the best battery packs for Quest with you so you don’t run out of juice before noon.
