Resident Evil 4 VR, which is being developed by Armature, has been repurposed a bit for VR. While this isn’t a complete reinterpretation like Resident Evil 2 Remake, it’s still the same design and narrative as the original when it launched for the GameCube in 2005. The most obvious change is the perspective of how you will be playing in the first person perspective as opposed to the familiar third person over the shoulder mechanics. You can interact with the weapons and items in your hand, and your health is shown on your wrist watch. The game allows you to move around in full motion and teleport into rooms, a first for the series.
There’s one aspect that won’t change for VR mechanics. The cutscenes are all presented in their original format, and the famous or infamous quick-time events will appear to work just as they did before. As mentioned earlier, this game will only be available on Oculus Quest 2. This is quite a departure for Facebook as the company runs most of its VR titles on both the Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2, Evil 4 VR only works on the second iteration of their VR headset. In short, if you own the Oculus Quest then you probably shouldn’t be ingesting it because you won’t be able to play it.
Resident Evil 4 VR will officially be released exclusively for Oculus Quest 2 on October 21st.
