Oculus Quest 2 will get a brand new lounge, Slack and extra apps

Oculus Quest 2 users will see a new living space: Horizon Home, a more social version of the virtual living room that pops up when you put on your headset. Instead of just being a pretty and sterile virtual environment, you can invite friends to hang out in your Horizon Home area. The idea is that you can do things together, such as: For example, immerse yourself in VR videos or play multiplayer games. Finally, you can also create and customize your Horizon Home area. All of this is part of the company’s efforts to focus on the metaverse, which Mark Zuckerberg talked about extensively during today’s Facebook Connect conference.

For the first time, Facebook opens the Oculus Store to 2D apps like Slack and Dropbox. You can access it from Horizon Home so you don’t have to take off your headset to keep an eye on your work chat. And of course there will also be apps for Facebook and Instagram.
