Oculus Quest 2 now affords twice the storage for a similar worth
Scott Stein / CNET
Facebook resumed sales of the Oculus Quest 2 today, August 24th, afterabout concerns about skin irritation as early as July. After the Oculus Quest 2 was no longer available in stores for almost a month, it can be found again on the digital marketplace, now with a non-irritating silicone faceplate and double storage space for the same price. You read that right: the base Oculus Quest 2 now includes 128GB of storage (up from 64GB) for the same list price of $ 299.
So this is a big deal: the Oculus Quest 2 is the onebuy now, offering a fast and comfortable experience that is also much cheaper than most options on the market (the Valve Index, HTC Vive Pro, etc.). It’s an accessible option for those looking to immerse themselves in VR gaming for the first time, and offers a self-contained, wireless experience that doesn’t require a gaming PC (although you can plug it in with a USB-C cable). Apps are downloaded directly into the headset’s onboard memory, which is why doubling the memory to 128 GB in the base model is a very nice incentive to finally go all-in with the Quest 2. (Note: The Quest 2 also has a 256GB model, but it’s still priced at $ 399 and sold out in most stores.)
It’s also a pretty comfortable headset that fits nicely over glasses, although in ours, we’ve found that fit and comfort have actually improved over time. One restriction: to use Quest 2, you need a Facebook account.
Look at that:
