Greatest Oculus Quest 2 equipment for 2021

The powerful and affordable Oculus Quest 2 brings virtual reality closer to the mainstream than ever before. Facebook’s VR gaming system is wireless, which is a must have for a really great VR experience. While prices start at $ 299 for the 128GB version, it’s pretty barebones: the VR headset and two controllers. And while you can just play with the Oculus Quest 2, there are tons of accessories available to take your VR experience to the next level.

Here’s a look at some of the best Oculus Quest 2 accessories out there. I have included several that I have bought myself along with others that are highly rated by online buyers. I’ll be adding more top accessories for the Oculus Quest 2 and will update this list as I try them out.

If you’re looking for a little bit of protection for the Oculus Quest 2 headunit (yes, people have been known to drop it), a head covering will help. The NUFR is available in a variety of colors for around $ 16, with the price varying slightly depending on the color.

When I was looking to upgrade to an “Elite” headband, I didn’t really want to spend $ 50 on the official Oculus Elite headband. I looked for a bundle, combined the accessories and found this one from Esimen that has a nice case in it. So far, after a month of use, everything is holding up well.

Another version of this is sold on Amazon under the Masiken brand. It looks the same and costs about the same.

I wanted a bit more of a challenge in training games like Thrill of the Fight, Fitness VR, The Climb and The Climb 2, Beat Saber, and many others, so I looked for portable weights. In doing research, I found that weighted gloves were the way to go instead of wrist weights. Just be warned that with these you should proceed at your own risk (you could injure yourself) but it will certainly increase the intensity of your workout.

Each glove only adds a pound, but that’s more than you think. They fit nicely in the controllers.

FramesDirect

With the Oculus 2 you can certainly play with glasses, but it’s more convenient without them. This is where a set of prescription lenses comes into play.

Oculus has partnered with FramesDirect to provide such Rx inserts at prices starting at $ 80 for the VirtuClear inserts. There are other Oculus VR Rx lens inserts, including those from VR Lens Lab and WidmoVR, but I’ve only tried the VirtuClear lenses. They work well and are easy to remove so that someone who doesn’t need glasses can play.

Many Oculus games are designed to make you sweat. For this reason, it’s a good idea to get a silicone or synthetic leather face cover that you can easily wipe off after every gaming session. I bought this Vokoo bundle which also includes a controller handle set and lens cover. (It is important that you protect your lenses from the sun and bumps.) Everything fits and works just fine, so no complaints.

I also found this Veer bundle that also includes a silicone front face shield cover for $ 20. It may actually be a better deal as it has more in it, but I haven’t tried it.

The Oculus Quest 2 has a couple of excellent table tennis games that are already shockingly realistic (I play Eleven table tennis). But if you want to add even more, turn your Quest controller into a real ping pong paddle with a paddle handle. The weight balance is a little different, but it’s close enough to make you feel like you’re really holding it. It’s a bit hardcore, but it’s a must if you play virtual table tennis a lot.

While you can use any corded headphone with the Oculus Quest 2, there are a handful of official “Oculus-ready” headsets, including Logitech’s G Pro gaming headset for Oculus Quest 2. It looks rugged and is convenient for an over- Ear pair. with memory foam ear cushions that passively seal off ambient noise. You will receive a short cable (with a Velcro strap) designed for the Oculus Quest 2 along with other cable accessories that allow you to use the Oculus Quest headset with your PC and other consoles. The boom microphone is removable.

I focused a little more on the comfort factor – and wearing it during a VR training game increases the temperature on your head a bit – but they sound good too.

Best buy

If you’re looking for a more comfortable gaming experience, upgrading to an “Elite” strap is the way to go. This is the official Oculus version, but I bought this Esimen accessory pack instead. It was fine, but if you want the official version … this is it.

If you don’t want to wear full-sized headphones while gaming, the Logitech G333 earbuds are a great alternative. They come with a short, custom length cable (and Velcro) designed for Oculus headsets.

The cord that goes to the right earbud is longer, so you can wear this cord behind your neck so you can hang it when you have the earbuds out of your ears. While nothing special when it comes to the earbuds, they have a sturdy cord, overall feel sturdy, and are well designed for Oculus Quest 2 use. They provide a solid sound when given a tight seal (a couple of different sized tips are included).

There are many cheaper earbud options for the Oculus Quest 2 – you can find them here. However, I haven’t tried them. Some don’t seem to be as durable as the Logitech G333.

The Anker Charging Dock for Oculus Quest 2 is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a resting place for your Oculus 2 headunit and controllers when you’re not using them, and includes rechargeable batteries for your controllers, plus a USB-C cable and power adapter (you plug the cable into the dock).

The dock also comes with a small magnetic USB-C adapter that you plug into the USB-C port on the Oculus headset. Then dock the head unit and the integrated magnetic charger connects to the adapter.

I was even able to charge the head unit with an Elite headband, but you will have to remove any handles you may have on the controllers to charge them.

I haven’t tried this combination of accessories yet, but it gets high marks on Amazon and seems like a great way to plug in an external battery (not included) for longer gaming sessions.

There is a magnetic docking area on the back of the comfort belt. You simply stick the self-adhesive metal plate on any external battery and the battery then sticks to the comfort tape.

If you’re just looking for a lens cover, this Orzero VR lens protective cover is one of the most popular options for just under $ 10. Personally, I am looking for accessory packs that include a lens cover, but some people just want these accessories.

You can play Oculus PC VR games on your Quest 2, but you will need a link cable, although Oculus has refined its wireless Air Link option (over Wi-Fi) to be more reliable. The official Oculus Link cable is $ 79, but there are many cheaper versions available, including this 20-foot KRX cable.

If you’re looking for an external battery that you can plug into your headset for more juice, this 10,000 mAh Aukey is a great option for under $ 20. You need to find a way to clip it to your headset. I made a DiY mount with a glued magnet that I put on the back of an Elite Head strap knockoff, and then I glued a sticky plate onto the battery. It worked great. Magnets are your friends when it comes to fastening. (Like all other Aukey products on Amazon, this one isn’t currently available there, but you can purchase it directly from the link below.)
