Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas To Be On Oculus Quest 2

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is getting a makeover with the upcoming trilogy remaster. And it looks like the game is getting the VR treatment too. More specifically, it gets the Oculus Quest 2 treatment.

Meta’s subsidiary made the announcement during the same event that announced the parent company’s name change. While the company claimed this was “a project that has been many years in development,” it does not show any screenshots of it.

This, of course, begs the question of whether the VR version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is based on the original PS2 version of the game or the upcoming remaster. There is no doubt that either way, it will be a new experience for a familiar game. But when fans first dip their toes in a San Andreas made with Unreal Engine 4, the jump to VR that takes them back to the original PS2 graphics can be a harrowing experience. Then there is the question of the changes to the controls.

In any case, there is no release date for the Oculus Quest 2 version of GTA: San Andreas yet. Or Meta Quest 2 too, as the company decided to drop the Oculus branding.
