Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is coming to Oculus Quest 2
During Facebook Connect 2021, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is in development for the Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset. During the event, no further details such as price, release date or even a short excerpt of the current game were shown. There is a blog post on the Oculus site confirming the game is coming. It reads, “This is a project that has been in development for many years and we can’t wait to show you more of it.”
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is being remastered along with GTA III and Vice City, and this collection will be released for multiple platforms on November 11th. The company didn’t say whether the VR version of San Andreas was based on the remastered assets or the classic PS2 assets (hopefully the former, not the latter), but we contacted Oculus for more details on this version.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is another classic that is being retrofitted for VR. Resident Evil 4 for VR was recently released and my colleague Adi Robertson found the new adaptation worked better than they’d imagined.
