Are you able to play Boneworks on Oculus Quest 2?
Boneworks is one of the most prestigious VR games as its mechanics are specially designed for the use of VR and the visceral combat VR controllers. However, some have wondered if Boneworks is playable on the Oculus Quest 2, the latest PC-free headset from Oculus. Can you play Boneworks on Oculus Quest 2?
Is there a Boneworks Oculus Quest 2 version?
Boneworks is not currently included in Oculus Quest 2, but a Boneworks game will be available in Oculus Quest 2 in the future. Stress Level Zero spoke to Oculus on their official blog and about bringing a Boneworks game to the portable VR platform in the future.
“We’re working on bringing the mechanics and core systems from Boneworks to Oculus Quest in a brand new project that we’ll have more to show off later this year,” said Director Brandon Laatsch.
The quote strongly implies that it’s not the exact Boneworks game that makes it into the Oculus Quest 2, but rather some kind of spin-off or game better designed for the hardware. However, this title is not exclusive, as the developer explained in a Steam forum post. The game is “not a platform exclusive title” and Stress Level Zero “will place it anywhere [it] can. “
This does not mean that Oculus Quest 2 users are completely excluded from playing Boneworks. It only takes a few additional steps. As of now, Boneworks is only available for the Oculus Rift, Vive Index, Windows Mixed Reality, and HTC Vive. And since it’s the Rift, players can purchase a patch cord to connect their Oculus Quest 2 to their PC and play Boneworks that way. This obviously affects portability but is currently the only way to play Boneworks on the Quest headset as the Quest Boneworks game is not yet available.
