Above And Past Is Coming to Oculus Quest 2

Facebook and developer Respawn today confirmed that the previously PC-exclusive VR shooter Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is coming to Oculus Quest 2 this year.

The news was announced on the Oculus blog with a new trailer which you can check out below. This version of the game will feature both the full single player campaign and the multiplayer modes that debuted in last year’s release. The blog notes that this content has been “carefully redesigned to fit (and run) on each Quest 2. Facebook had previously said it would try to port the game to Quest but make no promises that it would actually happen.

And yes, the standalone version is another exclusive Quest 2 that doesn’t start with the original quest. Facebook confirmed this to UploadVR. There’s a precedent for that – the upcoming Resident Evil 4 VR will be a full Quest 2 exclusive when it launches on October 21st.

Further details, including a release date, will be announced “in the very near future”. Facebook is hosting its annual Connect developer conference in late October, so there’s a chance we’ll find out more there.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond was first teased years ago before Respawn 2021 brought the full experience to both Oculus Rift and SteamVR. The game was the first entry in the series in years and brought the franchise back to its original World War II environment. We liked it when we checked it out last year, although we noticed some pace issues. “Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond can be frustrating and addicting at the same time,” we said, giving the game a “good” rating, “but underneath is an entertaining and addicting VR shooter that has several facets of a successful AAA game be.”
