You Can Now Change Oculus Quest’s Guardian Shade

The Oculus Quest Guardian border can now be changed to yellow or purple if you’re not a fan of the standard blue.

This function was announced in mid-May. Six weeks later it will now be “introduced” as part of the system software update v18.

To change the color of the Oculus Quest Guardian, simply navigate to the Guardian tab.

This isn’t the only update we’ve seen to Guardian recently. Since May, it has been able to detect objects in your play area when you put the headset on for the first time in a game session. We even noticed it spotted dogs and cats. In VR, however, it cannot warn of this yet.

The PC-based Oculus Rift S also has the Guardian system and uses the same version control system. However, no color options are available in Rift S software v18. Valve’s SteamVR offers a variety of colors for the competing ‘Chaperone’ system.

Are you going to change your Guardian color? Or would you like a color that is not yet available? Let us know in the comments below!
