Wi-fi Cybershoes for Oculus Quest 2 revealed with Kickstarter
After 2018’s success with wired VR PCs, Cybershoes is returning with a wireless version for Oculus Quest 2, and a Kickstarter is available now.
Cybershoes – a running accessory for VR games – was introduced as early as 2018 and successfully launched with over 214,000 euros for over 1,000 supporters. Following that success, including an award for innovation at CES 2020, the group behind Cybershoes is preparing to launch a wireless version that works with the powerful freedom of Oculus Quest 2. Cybershoes for Oculus Quest have been announced and a Kickstarter has opened.
Cybershoes for Oculus Quest were announced with a press release and Kickstarter on November 19, 2020. The new wireless version of Cybershoes has been specially developed to be combined with Oculus Quest and Quest 2 and offers full movement control of various games on the player’s feet and release of controls for other actions in the game. Games like Arizona Sunshine, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and Face Your Fears 2 are already compatible with the device, which is paired with the Oculus Quest 2 headset via Bluetooth and a special receiver.

The original Cybershoes were indeed innovative in providing a safe yet effective level of extra control to the gamer’s movement in VR, but the whole thing was still tied to a fully wired setup that ran through the wires of a typical VR setup became necessary. One of the greatest features of Oculus Quest 2 is freedom from restraint without the expense of too much power. Hence, the wireless version of cybershoes that preserves that freedom makes all kinds of sense.
In the Kickstarter, developers are looking for around $ 30,000 to successfully launch the wireless Cybershoes product. The background levels include everything from general support to purchasing the new Oculus Quest radio receiver if you already have the original cybershoes to a completely new radio setup. There is also a special bundle that comes with Arizona Sunshine. If successful, the Cybershoes for Oculus Quest wireless bundle, including shoe accessories, custom receiver, stool, and rug, will sell for $ 399. Currently, you can get it and the same package as a reward tier at a reduced price of $ 279.
The Kickstarter has already received nearly $ 16,000 in support at the time of this writing, with a deadline target of December 31, 2020. So stay tuned for more details and coverage of cybershoes on Oculus Quest, and keep an eye on the Kickstarter if you get the idea to descend movement in VR onto your actual legs.
