The Wizards VR Recreation Collection Has Bought Over 200,000 Copies

Action adventure magic VR RPG series The magicians von Carbon Studios has sold over 200,000 copies across all platforms combined. So far there have been four publications with The wizards – dark times last started in mid-2020.

The first game in the series, The magicianswas an ambitious action-adventure where warriors competed against hordes of enemies on a variety of levels, punctuated by brief moments of exploration and easy puzzles. To give credit where credit is due, it was a refreshing addition at the time to the tired “wave shooter” format that had become all too popular by the time.

After that, it got an Enhanced Edition with more content and features ported to PSVR, then an Oculus Go spin-off called The Wizards: Trials of Meliora, and finally Dark Times last year. Carbon Studios is currently working on a full Quest port for Dark Times as well as a new Warhammer VR game: Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Stormfall. Carbon Studios intends to continue supporting Dark Times after Oculus Quest.

“We want to show all VR players that we appreciate their commitment and thank them for their support,” said Aleksander Caban, co-founder of Carbon Studios, in a prepared statement. “The best way to do this is to give them even more entertainment in our title. Any additional content planned will be available for free to anyone who has purchased the game. The VR community supports and trusts us and thanks to them we have the opportunity to continue working on this title by introducing new features and improving what has already been presented. “

What makes The Wizards so enduring as a VR series is the interactivity of the gameplay. Instead of just pointing and pulling the trigger to cast spells, you actually have to pull the runes in the air to call the magic into your hand first. Things like fireballs, ethereal arches, shields, lightning bolts, and more require you to memorize and re-enact various gestures. It does a great job of making you feel like a wizard.

This is a huge milestone for a small indie studio with a bold brand and a well-received franchise. Let us know if you’re a fan of The Wizards Comments below!
