PSVR 2 might be getting a extremely anticipated Oculus Quest 2 sport

Sony’s upcoming PSVR 2 headset looks like it might get one of the best Oculus Quest 2 games to come out on. Blade & Sorcery, a first-person game that focuses on magic and hand-to-hand combat, could be ported to the PS5 VR headset, according to developer Warp Frog.

As reported by UploadVR, Warp Frog wrote in an FAQ that a Blade & Sorcery port could arrive on PSVR 2 just days before the release of the updated Blade & Sorcery: Nomad, which goes to Oculus Quest 2 on November 4th, 2021 . And while PSVR 2 is unlikely to be released before “Bank Holiday 2022” (end of November at the earliest), according to Sony.

In the FAQ, Warp Frog wrote: “We are really excited about the PSVR2. The PS5 performance is PC-level too, which means we could theoretically port the PC version from B&S without much difficulty and possibly even without compromising the graphics. It’s too early to make any announcements, but we’re interested in porting B&S to PSVR2 as soon as Sony can. “

Unfortunately, current PSVR owners may be unlucky. As Warp Frog explained, the upcoming Blade & Sorcery: Nomad, announced during the Facebook Connect 2021 event, is not coming to Sony’s 2016 VR headset. “The decision is mostly up to the controllers,” said Warp Frog. “PSVR is a great platform, but the PS Move is [motion controllers] and tracking wouldn’t be great for B&S. “

PSVR’s lackluster controllers aren’t the only problem, however. As Warp Frog added, Blade & Sorcery is something of a “performance hog,” and the developer wanted to make sure the game would run well on a Quest 2 first and foremost.

Analysis: a huge win for PSVR 2?

While Blade & Sorcery or its Quest 2-tweaked Nomad port has not yet been fully confirmed for PSVR 2 by Warp Frog, we’re excited that it is keeping an eye on the future platform for its popular magic and melee VR title.

Details for PSVR 2 are still few and far between, but Sony hasn’t been shy about giving fans a hint on what to expect from the headset on their PS5 consoles. Posts on the PlayStation official blog have confirmed improvements like a single-cable setup and vastly improved motion controllers, meaning a game like Blade & Sorcery could be a lot better fit than before.

Plus, back in August, Digital Foundry revealed that the PSVR 2 specs could be even better than what had already been leaked for the headset, meaning it could be a real powerhouse when it lands on PS5. We’re not going to hold our breath, but that could mean that more graphically or processor-heavy games like Blade & Sorcery could run successfully on PSVR 2.

In the meantime, many of us are still looking for a PS5 console that continues to be in short supply due to ongoing delivery problems in the wild. We hope that Sony’s flagship game console will be more readily available when the PSVR 2 hits store shelves, as we’re sure the Sony-exclusive headset will house many titles that you can’t get anywhere else, possibly even first – Party franchises like Ratchet & Clank and Gran Turismo.
