The world of games and technology has grown many times over in recent years, and every year we see a new technology step in and revolutionize the technology and games industry. Over the years we’ve seen technologies like ray tracing and facial recognition come in and change the gaming industry, but one technology that came along and created an industry of its own is “virtual reality”. Virtual reality was a very different experience for people who played on 2D screens, so it was an instant hit. Soon the sales of virtual reality headsets exploded and many game development companies started releasing a variety of virtual reality games.

The virtual reality industry continues to grow and has a bright future ahead of it. Since the boom in virtual reality, big companies like Facebook have started investing in the virtual reality industry. In 2014, Facebook acquired the virtual reality company called “Oculus”. Since then, Oculus has released several headsets and updates that keep amaze its users. The company recently announced a new update that is sure to revolutionize the VR industry.

Oculus has announced that the Oculus Quest 2 headset will receive a new update that gives the headset a new interface for programming applications. The new programming interface will enable developers to create mixed reality experiences. Developers could do this by taking real-world videos from the users using the headset’s sensors and incorporating them into the game. This would allow developers to personalize the user’s gaming environment, and also allow developers to use filters and effects that further enhance the environment and make the experience a lot more fun. Integrating the environment into virtual reality is certainly something that will provide a gaming experience like never before.

Oculus also said that with the integration of the environment, users can jump into the virtual content without having to worry about other things like pets and children.

After the announcement, many Oculus users worried about data protection, because in order for the headset to integrate the environment, it would have to absorb it. However, the company reassured users by saying that the Oculus headset cannot access your media folder and the headset only needs raw images from the headset’s sensors for integration.

As of now, the company says the new update will only be available for Unity, but look forward to releasing the update on other platforms as well.
