Hack and Slash Energy – Getting the Most Out of Beatsaber

I already mentioned how wonderful Beatsaber was for me as part of a workout. The game will no doubt get you moving. Now you can just stand there and swing your arms around gently, which will work for a while. I mean, it’s a good start, but it’s not where you want to end when using Beatsaber as part of a fitness routine.

Here are some tips I came up with to maximize the calories burned while playing BeatSaber.

Dance magic dance

You know how people use the phrase “dance like no one is looking?” Use. If you want to get the most out of Beatsaber, that’s exactly what you need to do. With the headset, I find that it is very easy to shut the world out and immerse yourself in the virtual world. Use this to your advantage! MOVE YOUR BODY!

The more you move, the more fun you will have. This is more about having fun than anything else. That is the intent of the game first. Remember, exercise is the by-product, we’re here for fun, not work. However, the more you dance and move to the beat, and the more you get lost in the music, the less you will let go and not miss your chance to flow.

I shut out the world when I enter the virtual world of Beatsaber and no one can judge me there. I dance and I dance hard. I move my bum, I jump back and forth and I’m the best dance in my room. I also went from just 5 calories per minute to about 16 calories per minute just by feeling the rhythm.

Cut Those Calories!

When I started Beatsaber, I moved, but not with a purpose. I ripped open, but not with the intention of destroying. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to cut the beat cubes in half, but I strongly recommend swinging with a specific purpose. It is now important to relax. Don’t just swing like you’re Babe Ruth trying to put one over the wall, increase the speed of your arms and you will feel the difference.

Swinging harder not only burns more calories but also adds another layer to the game. Now you have to move faster to get to the other beats. You don’t just have to be fast, you also have to be strong. It will start building those arm muscles a little more as the heart rate increases even further. Remember, the higher the heart rate, the more effort you put into those calories.

What I like to do is think of the cubes flying towards me as if they were virtual manifestations of my calories. I am a warrior sent here to destroy the literal fat from my body and I must do so with all my might. I tell you, the more you embrace and get involved in the fact that you are playing, the better the overall experience will be. Not just for the body but also for the mind. Slash WEG!

Take some weight!

I mentioned this with Pistol Whip before. I like increasing the intensity with Beatsaber by adding some weight. Either a weight vest or a backpack. Sometimes I even do both when the mood is right! If you add some modifiers like walls and bombs to avoid this, you will feel the difference in your legs pretty quickly.

Squat down, paying attention to your shape. As you move with extra weight, you almost double the calories you burn and believe me, you will absolutely be able to tell a difference. Adding wrist weights can also be beneficial, but when adding these you will want to slow down your swings to avoid injury.

It’s important to note that adding weight must be done at your own pace. Don’t start off with a lot of extra weight without building to this point first. Start small and build heavier. You need to be sure not to injure yourself and get yourself back in shape. While I highly recommend this, do it with caution. You know your body better than I do, so do what is right for you.

Become an Expert

When I first started Beatsaber, the idea of playing Expert seemed like a million light years away. I wasn’t good at the game at all. It also took a bit of getting used to, and after failing a few songs badly, I quickly adjusted. I activated “no fail” for the modifiers.

For me it goes hand in hand with playing at an expert level. If you want to train you have to play at Expert or Expert + whenever possible. Build up to this level like the weights, but unlike weights, you can get there faster if you just choose to! Just put on No-Fail and do your best. You will get a better overview over time, but as you learn and adapt to the game, you will burn more calories than you would in easy or even hard modes.

And move continuously with no mistakes. No stopping to restart the song or choose another one. So throw it at experts and immerse yourself in the game. Now you move your whole body and dance like a pro. The only points that matter are the calories that you destroy by having a good time.

Beatsaber is a great way to get in shape with VR. These tips are designed to help make this already great experience better for you. The most important thing is to have fun. If something I suggested is taking away the fun of the game, make changes! Come up with your own ideas and think outside the box. I would love to hear your suggestions!
