Source: Nick Sutrich / Android Central
While the Oculus Quest 2 is a significant upgrade from its predecessor in almost every way, many people have been concerned about the Facebook account integration. It turns out that while the Quest 2 has the best accessories and games of any VR headset, it turns into a useless building block if your Facebook account gets banned. Banning online platforms can feel a bit nebulous at times, but Facebook outlines some pretty simple steps that can be taken to keep your account from getting banned and then turning your Quest 2 into a building block. Happened to you already? Do the following if your Facebook account is locked.

Keep it real
One of the biggest facets of Facebook’s updated privacy policy and community guidelines is personal identity. While some social networks allow users to create accounts with fake names or identities, Facebook has severely restricted this practice in recent years in order to gain better control over its platform and protect itself from legal action. Therefore, you need to make sure that you follow these guidelines with your account:
- Use your legal name
- Use your correct date of birth
- Just create a Facebook account under your own name
Keep it secret (if you want)
While Facebook requires you to use your real name and date of birth on a Facebook account, there are many ways to control who sees this information. People who prefer to keep their real name and date of birth hidden from prying eyes can do so by adjusting these settings in the privacy settings of their Facebook accounts.
- Sign in to Facebook on your smartphone or computer.
-
Select the menu button in the upper right corner of the screen. On a computer this looks like an arrow. On mobile, this might look like a three-line hamburger menu.

- You may Remove information from all fields from this section that you uncomfortably share with Facebook or users on Facebook.
Alternatively, you can use a different Oculus username instead of your Facebook account. The first time you create your Oculus account, you can set up a unique username that other players can see. If you already have an Oculus account, here’s how you can change your username for more privacy.

Keep it polite
If you’re like me, your Facebook account is only used for Oculus. This is by far the best way to ensure that no other Facebook activity is going to lock your Oculus Facebook account. When playing online in VR, it is important to adhere to Facebook’s guidelines on behavior in VR, according to which players should respect the personal space of others and not harass others online.
If you regularly use Facebook and regularly participate in social media, read the Facebook community standards that govern the use of the platform. Community standards apply even if you only use Facebook to access Oculus content. However, this is even more important if you regularly post on the Facebook platform.
