Does the Oculus Quest 2 require a PC?

The Oculus Quest 2 is Meta’s leading virtual reality headset. The versatile headset can do a lot more than just gaming, and Mark Zuckerberg likely has bold plans for the headset with Metaverse.

With the Oculus Quest 2 you can do all kinds of activities. You can watch movies, surf the web, try out some of the latest VR games, or even get an intense workout.

But can Meta’s VR headset do it all on its own or do you need a PC to plug the headset in for these activities?

Does the Oculus Quest 2 need a PC?

Short answer: no

The Oculus Quest 2 doesn’t need to be plugged into a PC or anything else to experience what the headset has to offer. It’s a completely stand-alone device, which makes it a great consumer product that almost everyone can enjoy.

However, that doesn’t mean you can’t use the headset with your PC for even more entertainment. The Oculus Quest 2 can be connected to your PC either wirelessly via Air Link or wirelessly with the Oculus Link cable.

When you connect your Oculus Quest 2 headset to your PC, you can use the headset to experience some VR games that are not available as a standalone Oculus product. But even this is just an added benefit that you get with the Oculus Quest 2. You can still load dozen of games and apps onto the headset without any additional hardware.
