VirZOOM Raises $5.5 Million For Subsequent Technology VR Bike

The developers of a VR-focused exercise bike said they raised a starting round of $ 5.5 million to expand the effort.

The money raised by VirZOOM goes into 2nd generation products that can turn any stationary bike into a bike compatible with the company’s VR training program.

Co-founder and CEO Eric Janszen is the company’s largest investor. New investors include Skywood Capital, a partner of Eastham Capital, Fairhaven Capital and Equity Resource Investments. Greycroft partner Jon Goldman is also said to have invested.

VR exercise is a fascinating perspective. Manufacturers have yet to figure out how to deal with large amounts of sweat that can build up in a headset, making them difficult to see. However, the appeal of being entertained by a VR experience to take your mind off the drudgery of training is a tempting prospect. VirZOOM was an early company looking to capitalize on this emerging market, and its recent fundraisers will help the startup move forward.
